#What is common cathode technology?
"Common cathode" refers to the common cathode power supply method. In fact it is a kind of led display energy saving technology.It refers to the common cathode method to power supply the screen, that is, R,G,B is supplied seperately, and the current and voltage are accurately allocated to R G B lamp beads. Because R,G,B lamp beads requires best working voltage and the current is not the same,so that the current pass through the lamp beads and then to negative electrode of IC,the forward voltage drop will be reduced,and the internal resistance of the conduction will be reduced.

1. different power supply method
the common cathode power supply mode is that the current passes through the lamps beads and then to the negative electrode of IC,so that the forward voltage drop and the internal resistance of the conduction are also reduced.
The common anode means that the current flows from the PCB board to the lamp beads,and supplies power to RGB uniformly,which leads to a larger forward voltage drop of circuit.
2. different supply voltages:
Common cathode, it seperately provide current and voltage to RGB, RGB lamp beads have different voltage requirements. The voltage of red lamp beads is about 2.8V,and the voltage of blue and green lamp beads is about 3.8V,. This power supply can acheive accurate power supply and power with less loss,the heat generated by led display during work is much lower.The common anode is to give a voltage higher than 3.8V(5v) to RBG for a unified power supply.At this time,the RGB voltage are all unified 5V.According to the power formula P=UI, when the current is constant,the higher the voltage, the higher the power. That is, the greater the power consumption, at the same time,led display also produce more heat during work
#Why the common cathode led display has lower heat?
The special common cathode power supply mode of the cold screen makes the LED display less heat and low temperature rise during working. Under normal circumstance, the temperature of the cold screen is about 20℃ lower than the convetional outdoor led siplay of the same model in the white balance states and when playing videos. For products with the same specifications,under the same brightness, the screen temperature of the comon cathode led display is more than 20℃ lower than that of the convetional common anode led display, and the power consumption is 30% lower than that of conventional common anode led display product.
